Population (and local amenities)

Population (and local amenities)

The numbers involved are currently quoted as – don’t forget this does not include the smaller “Fill-in” developments involved, or even those plans for development following this (should it be successfully):

  • Slate Meadow; 150 to 190 dwellings
  • Hollands Farm; 350 to 500 dwellings
  • Northern Heights;  40 dwellings
  • Windrush House; 12 dwellings
  • Lincoln House; 20 dwellings

From above it can be seen that the number of new indicative dwellings proposed for Wooburn Green / Bourne End area is between 577 and 762 dwellings.

So how many additional residents to the local area could that be? lets have a stab at the numbers:

Parish Head Count = ~ 10,500 (could be higher today)

Wikipedia / Wooburn & Bourne End we get:

Villages

Hamlets

  • Berghers Hill,           80
  • Cores End             160
  • Hawks Hill              N/A
  • Widmoor               160
  • Wooburn Moor      N/A

Sum Total:                 10,310

This is the latest data from Wikipedia, although the dates are not readily apparent.  This compares well with the 2001 parish count of 10,172. – lets use 10,500

Average People per Household = 2.3

The basis of this is the 2001 Parish count – Wooburn CP, seen here

All Persons –  10,172

All Households – 4,448

2.3 people in 762 dwellings would be around 1,750 people.  – that’s a lot

Compared against the population of Wooburn & Bourne End parish (10,500 above), that is a 16% increase in the population.

However; if you look at the location of the proposed dwellings they are predominantly all in Bourne End  (5,320 box above).  That gives us a population increase in Bourne End of around 33% !

  • For every three people standing in front of you at the doctors – there would be four.
  • For every three cars in front of you – there would be four
  • For every at school – there would be four
  • you get the message ………

this is not the real world – not the one I know
