The Railways – Bourne End

Some Brief Bourne End Railway History

The station was opened in 1854and ran from Maidenhead through Bourne End to High Wycombe.  Marlow was linked in 1873.

Bourne End quickly expended on the arrival of the railways The region around the Parade, becoming the main focus – taking it away from what was Bourne End Hamlet

In 1979, the line from Bourne End to High Wycombe was closed. – leaving the line from Marlow to Bourne End then Maidenhead open.

Improved strategic transport connectivity with the Thames Valley & South East Midlands – that must be by re-establishing the old ling between Bourne End and High Wycombe (removed in the 60s?)

this is where the bigger picture starts to show….

Large scale development over the whole Wooburn District, that if it goes ahead, will leave it unrecognisable …..add sketch etc…
