Roads – Bourne End

Roads – Bourne End

Principles for Bourne End & Wooburn, Item 3b (Print Page 104)

b) Provide an “eastern link road” connecting Cores End Road/Town Lane to Ferry Lane and Cookham Bridge to reduce the traffic impact on existing roads. – This can be seen roughly on the map below, to me it looks like the roundabout at cores end will have to be enlarged and moved to the west.

c) Explore improvements to Cookham Bridge that do not result in additional through traffic through the villages. – no idea.  Resume 2 way traffic and put a footbridge in? Or build a second one way bridge down the other side of the ferry – and up the slipway? – then where? (I feel numb)

Perhaps going back to paying a Toll at Cookham bridge; could be thrown in (free passes for the local community – without saying)

POLICY BE2 – HOLLANDS FARM Item 2 Transport (Print Page 107)

a) Provide a link road through the site linking to the Cores End Road roundabout and Ferry Lane – then were ?, oh yes Cookham bridge (full stop)

b) Provide a redirected bus service and enhanced provision through the site – not bad? , just 350-500 households and a link road to Slate Meadow ~200 yards away) and its 150-190 households !!

I can see this working

As well as and possible Hollands Farm traffic, we also have to consider the Slate Meadow development, now sadly agreed.  Here they say:

POLICY BE1 – SLATE MEADOW , Item 2 Transport (Print Page 106)

b) Ensure that there is no direct vehicular access onto A4094 Brookbank or off the existing Cores End roundabout unless all other vehicular access options prove undeliverable, unfeasible or unaffordable. – a very strong “Ensure” and then the “unless”, anyone want to hazard a guess what will happen

b) Provide by way of legal agreement financial contributions to: Measures along the A4094 to ensure the routes resilience, providing an appropriate balance between through movement and local access journeys. – this will clearly include the pinch points at Cookham bridge and Wooburn Town
